About the room
Polina Moroz transforms art room 4 into a Pollinarium shaped by sensuality. A Pollinarium – naturally also intended as a play on words with the artist’s name – is a botanical collective term for the totality of pollen-related flower parts needed for the pollination and reproduction of a plant. Polina Moroz’ Pollinarium in Hotel Teufelhof is a meditative, mysterious space in which characteristics and symbols from the plant world are transferred to the room, its architecture and its atmosphere. With the exception of the bed, all elements in the room were specially newly designed by Polina Moroz and made for the room: a handwoven carpet, an armchair, a series of lamps or a wall mural. The installation continues in the curtains, a canopy and a cushion and plays with different surfaces and textures: soft, gentle, flowing or hard. The light of the designed lamps picks up the softness and movements of fabrics and forms once again and transfers them to the room. As varied as the elements in the room are, they complement each other like a stage set, making the room an intimate, sensually charged space and at the same time a reference to Voltaire’s idea of „cultivating one’s own garden“.

The Artist: Polina Moroz
Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, in 1992, Polina Moroz trained in Sweden and Denmark as an architect specialising in experimental design. Polina Moroz has lived in Paris for many years and works both as an artist and as a designer. Motifs from nature, mysticism, legends and traditional customs meet in her work with designs from postmodernism and contemporary art. Her objects are often works of art in themselves; in their surfaces they evoke organic materials, states of matter that are constantly in motion and make light and space perceptible in very different ways.
Her works have been shown, among others: in Tour Orion, Montreuil F / Musée of d’Aquitaine, Bordeaux F / The Office, Soli Loci, Paris F / IAMUARE, Culver City, LA USA / les Grandes-Serres, Paris F / Saalhof 1123, Basel CH / Skylight, New York USA / La Villa du Parc, Annemasse F / Château du Feÿ, Villecien F / Tripolar, Paris F.
